THIRTY YEARS OF FESTIVAL!
by Tim newby

As Leftover Salmon nears their 30th year, their inspiring story is set to be told in a brand new book, Leftover Salmon: Thirty Years of Festival! published by Rowman & Littlefield. In this book, critically acclaimed author of Bluegrass in Baltimore: The Hard Drivin’ Sound & It’s Legacy, Tim Newby presents an intimate portrait of Leftover Salmon through the personal recollections of its band members, family, friends, former band-mates, managers, and the countless musicians they have influenced. Leftover Salmon: Thirty Years of Festival! is a thorough guide covering a thirty-year journey of a truly remarkable band. It is a tale of friendships and losses, musical discoveries and Wild West adventures, and the brethren they surround themselves with who fortify Salmon’s unique voice. Their story is one of tragedy and rebirth, of unimaginable highs and crushing lows, of friendships, of music, but most importantly it is the story of a special band and those that have lived through it all to create, inspire, and have everlasting fun.

THIRTY YEARS OF FESTIVAL LIVE!

28 LIVE TRACKS HAND SELECTED BY OUR ARCHIVIST CHRIS MRACHECK TO GO ALONG WITH EACH CHAPTER OF THE BOOK

“Leftover Salmon: Thirty Years of Festival!" is the definitive story of a band who has defied norms and blazed their own path since they first came together nearly thirty years ago.  Pulling from that long career, Thirty Years of Festival Live! is the audio companion for the book and helps to tell the story of Leftover Salmon through twenty-eight tracks that span the band’s entire existence. The album was culled from Salmon’s live music archive and serves as the musical narration for the book, as each track was chosen for its historical significance.  Many of the tracks are specifically referenced in the book and allow the reader to experience (or for some relive) that special musical moment in the band’s history. Other tracks highlight the historical importance of various tours and the different musical eras of the band. While others feature friends and guests who have played a role in Salmon’s lasting legacy.  Quite simply this compilation is a festival for your ears!” ~ Author Tim Newby
